We are proud of the high quality level of care that the GP’s at The Children’s Doctor  provide to our patients and the community. Our doctors and nurses provide a wide range of quality health care services and treatment, and help coordinate teams that are all looking after your wellbeing. We can provide this for you either within the practice, or we can liaise with allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, dieticians, or psychologists.

Dr Sharada Devadas - MBBS FRACGP Dip Child Health

Owner / Principal Doctor

Dr Sharada is a general practitioner with over 12 years clinical experience in all aspects of general practice. She completed her FRACGP in 2005 and more recently her Diploma in Child Health.

Sharada has extensive GP experience having worked in General Practice since completing her fellowship. She has a special interest in paediatrics, women’s health and preventative medicine. She also participates in The Shared Care/Antenatal Program with Westmead and Blacktown hospitals.

Sharada has a broad hospital experience gained whilst working at Sydney Adventist Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Westmead Hospitals. Sharada has been with The Children’s Doctor since July 2011.

Dr Barbara is a general practitioner with a special interest in the health and wellbeing of women and children. With over 25 years of clinical experience, Dr Barbara has been well-established in the Hills District

Dr Anthony Liu - MBBS(Syd), MPH, M.Med.Ed, DCH, FRACP

General Paediatrician

Dr Liu trained in General Paediatrics at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead obtaining his specialty qualifications at the end of 2003. Dr Liu has also completed post graduate studies in Public Health and Medical Education. In 2005 he was appointed Staff Specialist Paediatrician at Nepean Hospital and went on to be employed as Lecturer in Paediatrics by the University of Sydney in 2006. In 2011 he was promoted to Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics where to this day, continues in teaching and research at the University of Sydney Nepean Clinical School. Dr Liu was also Department Head of Paediatrics at Nepean Hospital from 2006.

His other appointments include visiting consultant paediatrician at Allowah Presbyterian Children’s Hospital and also at the Mother and Baby Unit at the St John of God Hospital, Burwood.

Dr Liu has over 50 publications to his name with research interests in looking at the effects of illicit drug use in pregnancy on the newborn infant and more recently on the developmental origins of health and disease. Dr Liu has wide experience in all areas of general paediatrics.

General Paediatrician

Dr Sowmya Gandham is a General Paediatrician who graduated from the University of Sydney and completed her specialist training in paediatrics at The Children’s Hospital Westmead. She is a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with over 10 years of paediatric experience.

Dr Gandham is interested in all aspects of general paediatrics, looking after children from newborns to adolescents.

In addition to working at The Children’s Doctor, Dr Gandham is a Staff Specialist Paediatrician at Nepean Hospital and Blue Mountains Hospital.

She has also completed a Master’s in Public Health and has an interest in teaching and research.

Dr Katrina Zaballa – MBBS (Hons), DCH, FRACP

Dr Katrina Zaballa – MBBS (Hons), DCH, FRACP

General Paediatrician

Dr Katrina Zaballa is a General Paediatrician who graduated from Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney. She completed her General Paediatric training at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2021.

Dr Zaballa has had extensive experience in paediatric medicine, managing children of all ages from neonates to adolescents. She has a special interest in paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, having completed 2 years of training in sleep and respiratory medicine at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Through her training she has experience in flexible bronchoscopies, interpretation of pulmonary function tests and sleep studies, and the management of children with complex asthma, chronic respiratory conditions and children requiring non-invasive and invasive respiratory support. Dr Zaballa also has hospital affiliation with the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Dr Swetha Thakkar

Dr Swetha Thakkar

General Practitioner

Dr Swetha Thakkar graduated from Manipal University in 2006.

Since migrating to Australia in 2009, she has enjoyed working at Nepean Hospital.  Along with her overseas experience she has worked in different subspecialties  within Paediatrics
including  NICU, Allergy, Behavioural Paediatrics and General Paediatrics for 5 years.

She has had the opportunity to work as an SRMO rotating through different specialities and learning about Indigenous health at Royal Darwin hospital. She worked in Newcastle GP practices for 3 years to complete her GP training.

She enjoys all aspects of general practice with particular interest in Women and Children’s health.

Outside of work, Swetha’s interests include spending time with her 2 children, reading novels and playing music.
